Energy Storage Farming Webinar

Going beyond simple solar to optimise renewable energy on your farm

Energy storage farming webinar

Energy Now will be hosting a free webinar for its members at 5:00 PM GMT on Wednesday 29th November, in which experts from Wattstor and Mole Energy will explore ways to optimise renewable energy usage on your farm via a well-chosen battery solution.

The UK’s agricultural sector is currently facing many challenges concurrently. Farmers are under increasing pressure to reduce their environmental impact and comply with government targets to reach net zero by 2050. Yet they need to do this against a backdrop of volatile energy prices wreaking havoc with their bottom line.

Battery energy storage systems can provide answers to both parts of that challenge. They can allow farmers to store excess electricity generated by solar panels, and use it when they need it, rather than relying on the grid or diesel generators. This way, farmers can maximise their use of renewable energy, reduce their dependence on fossil fuels, and lower their energy costs.

But how do farmers know if battery energy storage is right for their farm? How do they choose the best system for their needs? And how do they install and operate it safely and efficiently?

We’re hoping to provide answers to those questions and more in an upcoming webinar with Energy Now, the renewable and low carbon partner for agricultire and rural communities.

Webinar details

In this webinar Jack Peck will aim to dispel a few myths and set out a clear route forward for the next phase of renewable energy in agriculture: battery energy storage.

Jack Peck, Business Development Manager at Wattstor

Jack Peck has over a decade’s experience in the renewable energy sector. Starting out as a solar developer, he has spent the past five years bringing battery storage solutions to market. He now manages Wattstor’s business development and partnerships in the UK.

Jack will cover the following points:

  • Retrofitting batteries to farms with existing solar & wind installations
  • Expanding your solar installation in the post feed-in tariff (FIT) era
  • How to determine if your land/farm can benefit from battery storage
  • Identifying when storage is the perfect solution for your business
  • What load shifting is and why it is key to maximising returns from solar
  • DC battery solutions – when grid constraints become a limiting factor
