A demanding brief, a tight deadline 

When BioEner Slovakia, a renewable energy research and development specialist, needed a large-scale battery system built at an industrial park site, the brief came with almost no room for delay. The system had to be ready to support the wider project’s technical and commercial flexibility from day one.

After a thorough selection process, BioEner Slovakia chose Wattstor to deliver it, looking for a partner with a proven European track record and the technical depth to hit a demanding schedule without cutting corners.

Designed and delivered for speed, without compromise

We designed and delivered a 6.4 MW / 13.36 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS), one of the largest of its kind in Slovakia, built to be ready for immediate connection and operation.

To meet the timeline, we specified a battery container with the power conversion system built in, cutting the onsite construction and electrical work needed and shortening the gap between design and commissioning. Alongside the technical build, our team managed the permitting process directly, coordinating technical documentation and liaising with the relevant authorities to keep the project on schedule through to handover.

Automated oversight, built in from day one

We also integrated our Podium energy management system (EMS), which gives BioEner Slovakia continuous, automated oversight of the battery’s performance. It monitors the system in real time, flags issues early, and supports planned maintenance, so the asset runs reliably with minimal manual oversight. Podium’s existing compatibility with third-party energy service providers also made it straightforward for BioEner Slovakia to fit the system into its own operations.

Six months, start to finish

The full system, from initial design through to commissioning, was delivered in six months.
