Three projects, three years – and more on the way for Wattstor and KOOR

“We began working with KOOR in 2023, and since then we’ve delivered three large-scale storage projects together in Slovakia,” said Patrik Pinkoš, Head of Sales for Europe at Wattstor. “KOOR has strong know-how and a significant footprint in the Slovak energy sector, and we’re looking forward to further projects, including some now being prepared in the Czech Republic.”

For KOOR, each new project builds on the last. Having already worked with Wattstor’s technology twice before, the team knew what to expect from the process, and used that experience to move confidently from order to deployment.

Delivering certainty on a large-scale build

Large-capacity battery projects carry real delivery risk: technical complexity, certification requirements, and tight timelines all have to come together before an asset can go live. KOOR needed a partner who could deliver a dependable system at scale. That partner also had to back it with strong local support. And it had to see the project through certification and commissioning without delay.

A battery system built to support the grid

Wattstor supplied and installed a 2MW/5MWh battery energy storage system, integrated with Podium, our energy management system (EMS). Podium runs the system automatically. Through a monitoring portal, KOOR gets round-the-clock visibility of the asset’s status. No day-to-day manual oversight is needed. The battery is designed to help support the wider electricity grid.

Looking ahead: more projects, more markets

This is the third time KOOR has trusted Wattstor to deliver a large-scale battery system, and both companies are already looking beyond Poprad. Wattstor and KOOR are currently preparing new projects together in the Czech Republic, extending a relationship that has grown with each installation. For KOOR, that means a delivery partner it already knows and trusts. For Wattstor, it’s a track record it can point to as it takes on larger and more complex battery storage projects across the region.
